How to make two-tone cookies?
You can find this two-tone cookie recipe video below, but here is a quick overview of the procedure:
Prepare dough
Combine butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar using a hand mixer or whisk in a mixing bowl. Add an egg and mix well.
Stir in all the dry ingredients, i.e., all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix with a spatula and knead into a soft dough, using your hands.
Cover the dough with cling foil and chill it for 30 minutes. Remove the dough from the fridge and divide it into two equal portions (image below).

Prepare cookie log
Shape one portion of the dough into a log 10 inches long. Cover it with parchment paper and chill it for 15-20 minutes in the fridge.
Meanwhile, knead cocoa powder into the other portion of the dough. Roll this chocolate dough into a rectangle of 10 inches in length and a width of any size, but it should be nearer to 6 inches. Don't stress about the extra width, as it will overlap anyway.
To make a rectangle for cookie dough, place a parchment paper underneath the dough to prevent it from sticking to the surface. Press the dough into a roughly rectangular shape with your hands. This makes it easier to maintain the shape as you roll.
Roll from the center outward rather than just back and forth. Once rolled out, use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to trim uneven edges. Gather the scraps and re-roll if needed.
Remove the vanilla dough log from the fridge and place it along one long side of the chocolate dough rectangle. Roll the chocolate dough tightly to enclose the log (image below).

Refrigerate this two-color log cookie dough for 30 minutes to set firm. Once chilled, remove from the fridge and trim the ends. Slice the log into rounds of equal size (image below).

Reshape the cookies
As you can see in the image, the ends of the chocolate dough overlap and tend to open easily. To fix this issue, gently press the loose ends of the logs with your fingers to seal. They will stick to each other quickly (image below). Reshape them if needed.

Air fry
Preheat the air fryer at 160°C for 5-8 minutes. Line the air fryer tray/basket with parchment paper. Transfer the double-color cookies to the lined air fryer tray. Place them at a distance. Air fry these chocolate vanilla cookies for 12-15 minutes at 160°C or until golden. Leave cookies in the basket/tray for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cool completely before serving or storing. These yummy, buttery two-tone cookies are great anytime for a little sweet craving!
