📋Ingredients
To make this mint yoghurt sauce, you need these items:

Mint leaves - I use bright, fresh mint leaves picked off the stems. Rinse them thoroughly, as they often carry small soil particles.
Fresh mint gives this sauce its cooling, vibrant flavour. If you enjoy mint-based recipes, try my watermelon mint cooler and lemon mint tea recipes on the blog.
Yogurt - I prefer whole‑milk homemade yogurt for a thicker, creamier sauce. You can also use Greek yogurt if you like.
Seasoning - Salt, chillies, lemon juice, and sugar.

👩🍳How to make mint yogurt sauce
Combine mint leaves, green chillies, lemon juice, cumin seeds, sugar, and salt in a blender jar. Add 1-2 tablespoon water and blend until the mint is finely crushed.

Add yogurt to a bowl and whisk until smooth. Stir the blended mint into the yogurt. Mix well to combine the ingredients. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water for a thinner, more pourable sauce, if needed.

Taste and adjust salt or lemon juice if needed. Transfer to a bowl and chill for 10-15 minutes before serving.

❄️Storage
Store the mint with yogurt sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It stays fresh for up to 3-4 days. Stir well before serving, as slight separation may occur. Avoid freezing, as it can change the yogurt's texture.
Variations
If fresh mint is unavailable, simply add dried mint to the whisked yogurt along with the other ingredients. It's actually easier this way since you can skip the blending step. If you'd like to make your own dried mint, I have a full guide on how to dry mint leaves at home. Once the yogurt is smooth, just mix everything in.
You can use fresh garlic or fried garlic here. Both add that earthy aroma and rich flavor you get in a good herb and garlic sauce.
A few coriander leaves add a refreshing green pop - just like the vibrant look of mint‑coriander sauce.

🥄Serving Suggestions

ℹ️FAQ
Yes, you can make mint yogurt sauce without a blender. Finely chop the mint leaves and mix them into the yogurt with the rest of the ingredients. Just note that the texture will be completely different. For a smoother, more balanced flavor, dried mint leaves work even better in this no‑blender version.
Not necessarily. If you skip the green chilli, the sauce stays mild and refreshing.
Yes. Greek yogurt makes the sauce thicker and creamier. Add a little water if needed.
📝Tips
- Use thick yogurt or Greek yogurt for a creamier texture.
- Avoid blending the yogurt with all the other ingredients, as it can make the sauce thin and lose its creamy texture.
- Add the water gradually, and adjust the consistency after checking.
- Chilling for 10-15 minutes helps the flavors settle nicely.
