Why maple syrup works here 🍁
- Adds a natural, rich sweetness instead of refined sugar.
- Complements the tropical pineapple with its earthy undertones.
- Makes the raita stand out as a fusion twist between Indian and Western flavors.
Ingredients
To prepare pineapple yogurt dip, you need these items:

- Pineapple - You can use fresh or canned pineapple; I use canned pineapple in juice. Simply drain the excess liquid and cut the pieces into bite-sized chunks.
- Yogurt (curd) - Yogurt made from whole milk gives this raita a creamy consistency.
- Sweetener - Maple syrup
- Raita masala - An Indian spice blend that adds a warm, earthy aroma and depth to the dish, especially for raitas. If interested in making this raita spice blend, feel free to check out my homemade raita masala recipe on the blog - it's prepared with just four ingredients.

How to make pineapple raita
If using store-bought canned pineapple, drain the rings to remove excess juice, then cut them into small bite-sized pieces.

In a mixing bowl, combine the chilled yogurt, salt, raita masala, dried mint, and maple syrup and mix until evenly blended.
Gently fold in pineapple chunks. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander or dried mint, and drizzle a touch of 2-ingredient chilli oil on top for an elegant finish (optional).

Serving Ideas
- Pair with vegetable biryani, chicken biryani, or pulaos like pumpkin rice.
- Side for stuffed parathas like paneer aloo parathas, methi paratha, aloo paratha, aloo kulchas.
- Serve it as a side with curries such as red kidney beans, matar mushroom masala, and curried green peas.
- Enjoy it solo as a light and refreshing snack on hot days.
- Use it as a sweet and tangy dressing for pasta, such as chicken corn pasta salad.
- Serve as a cooling dip alongside grilled kebabs or tandoori dishes.
- Perfect base for Indian aloo chana chaat.
Storage
This pineapple curd stays fresh in the refrigerator for 2–3 days when stored in an airtight container. Give it a gentle stir before serving, as the pineapple may release some juice over time. For the best texture and flavor, enjoy it fresh!
