A low-calorie, healthy all-purpose dipping sauce that goes with just about everything! The all-purpose dipping sauce is a perfect combination of yogurt and mayonnaise that offers tanginess and a refreshing flavour of fresh herbs you won't get in any other dip sauce. This dip goes well with grilled, bbq, fried, oven-baked almost any snacks that surely enhance their flavour.

About the recipe
I always keep on experimenting with ingredients in my kitchen. Most of the time, it fails. But still, I love doing all these higgledy-piggledy (ulta-pulta) things at my place since I am the boss in my office (kitchen, hehe....)
One day, we had a bbq party with friends, and I decided to try a new yogurt mayo dip recipe although, I had prepared my popularΒ green chutney ready for backup.
But, to my surprise, everyone at the party liked this. We tried this dip with bbq grilled chicken, veggies and fish, and it was yum! What a day it was! Super excited with lovely comments.........
Mostly, we think that snacks go well with tomato-based sauces only. But, the yogurt-mayo combination in this dip goes well with almost every snack.
I'm sure that once you give it a taste, itβs definitely on your recipe list.
So, I decided to share my new but tried and tested all-purpose dip recipe with all my digital friends looking forward to new sauce recipes. I hope you will love it as much as my other friends do!
Ingredients for all-purpose dipping sauce
You need only a few ingredients for this creamy savoury dip and less than 5 minutes. So, get out a bowl and the following things:
Yogurt: 1 cup (200g) I prefer full cream milk yogurt. It gives a good creamy texture.
Mayonnaise: Β½ cup (100g) - I use dill pickled flavoured mayonnaise. It tastes super! Use flavoured mayonnaise only.
Mint Paste: 1 tablespoon- Seriously! No one can beat the aroma and flavour of freshly ground mint leaves.
Sugar: Β½ teaspoon - Optional
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Lemon: 1 tablespoon. To add tanginess and balance the flavour, don't skip this!
Oregano: 1 tablespoon - To enhance the taste and garnish.

This all-purpose dip is so simple and easy to prepare in 5 minutes.
- The foremost step is to grind a few fresh mint leaves using a small amount of water.
- Next, you need to combine all the ingredients and whisk them well. (see steps 1- 6 in the image below);
step-1 add yogurt and mayonnaise into a bowl.
step-2 add sugar
step-3 next goes salt
step-4 Stir in lemon juice
step-5 Mint juice
step-6 Add oregano
Combine well.
Thatβs it!

And the yummy, healthy all-purpose dip is ready for you to serve!

Storage
- Refrigerate this yogurt mayo dip for longer shelf life.
- Do not store it for more than a week due to the yogurt in it.

- Rice
Variations
You are free to experiment with the ingredients. I have not tried this but you can explore these options also.
- Try aioli instead of mayonnaise.
- Replace the dill pickle flavour mayonnaise with some other of your choice.
- You can try another fresh herb also.
- If you are fond of tangi food, surely replace lemon juice with vinegar.
Tips
- Do notΒ storeΒ this all-purpose dipping sauce forΒ more than a week.
- AlwaysΒ refrigerateΒ it. If itβs too cold to serve, keep the required quantity at room temperature before serving.
- Add a minimum amount of water to grind mint leaves to make a paste.
- Add sugar and salt carefully, as mayonnaise already has in it.
- Limit the mint leaves to 6-7 max as more than this will make the dip a little bitter.

5 Min All-Purpose Dipping Sauce
Equipment
- Whisk
Ingredients
- 200 g Yogurt
- 100 g Mayonnaise
- Β½ teaspoon Sugar optional
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoon Oregano
- 5 - 6 Mint Leaves
Instructions
Mint paste
- Grind 5-6 mint leaves in a mortar pestle. Use a little amount of water to make the paste.
Combining the Ingredients
- Combine yogurt, mayonnaise, sugar, salt, lemon juice, mint paste and oregano.
- Mix well and garnish with oregano.
