    Ingredients

To prepare this savory yogurt drink, you need the following items:

labelled ingredients for lassi masala recipe
    • Yogurt/curd- use yogurt prepared from whole milk for the best results. I like to use thick yogurt for this recipe.
    • Mint leaves dried - mint leaves are known for their cooling effect. It also gives a lassi refreshing and minty flavour that boosts your sensations. I use dried leaves as I feel it does not make lassi green. Feel free to add anyone.
    • Dairy creamer - use it for a rich and creamier consistency.
    • Curd masala powder - A must-have all-purpose spice blend that enhances the lassi taste and digestion as well. You can easily make this spice at your place by blending the required spices. Check the recipe!!

    Following are the step by step instructions to prepare salty lassi at home;

    1. Blend all the ingredients in a blender to make lassi. I like to use Nutribullet blender (affiliate link) to make this yummy summer drink.
    2. Pour this lassi into a glass with ice cubes.
    3. Top up with crushed dried mint leaves and curd masala powder.
    4. Serve chilled.

    Substitutions

    • Use lactose-free yogurt if lactose-intolerant and avoid adding dairy creamer to it.
    • Use dry milk powder if you don't have a dairy creamer.
    • If you want to use fresh mint leaves, add them in the last as finely chopped to garnish the drink.
    • No curd masala powder is available, don't worry; replace it with cumin powder.

    Variations

    • The spices used in this recipe are mild. But if you like a super spicier version, try adding chilli pepper flakes or black pepper.
    • Top up with Boondi/fried chickpea snack and finely chopped fresh cilantro/coriander leaves to make it more tempting.
    • Add cream before blending if you like thick and creamy consistency.

How to make a Curd masala powder?

Curd masala powder is so easy to prepare at home. It just takes a few minutes to prepare. I definitely like to go with homemade ones as I can adjust the ingredients as per my preferences. And yes always a better choice than store ones in terms of quality, ingredients, freshness, and price.

The curd masala powder I prepare at home is an easy recipe that involves only 4 ingredients. (see my post curd masala powder)

    Equipment

I use a Nutribullet blender to prepare healthy drinks, be it lassi, shakes and smoothies etc. It is too easy and convenient to use. Also, I use this blender to blend the spices to make the curd masala powder used in this recipe. This blender is a boon to me as I can't imagine my life without this blender!!

    Storage Suggestions

    • Serve this chilled yogurt drink immediately as soon as you prepare it.
    • It is not advisable to keep this lassi masala for long hours.
