About choco pillow bites
My cutie is fond of corn flakes cereals and wants to try every flavor that catches her attention!! This time, the packaging of chocolate-filled pillow cereals impressed her. After coming out of the testing phase, her so-called ‘favorite yummy pillows’ suddenly turned into yucky ones!! And now, she shifted her interest to the fruity ones. So, poor abandoned choco pillows!! While cleaning up the mess in my pantry, the abundance of these choco pillows sparked my interest in making these bites. The results were outstanding, as expected!!
It is an easy and quick recipe that takes just 10 minutes to prepare. You can make these bites by combining butter, chocolate, and choco pillows. I use chocolate-filled hazelnut pillows for this recipe, which give these bites a super crisp with an extra chocolatey and nutty flavor. These bites are so irresistible with the buttery, nutty, chocolatey crunch of cereals that you can enjoy this quick snack on the go!

- Line any rectangular dish with parchment paper. Cut paper large enough to hang all four sides. I use a rectangular baking tin for this recipe.
- Crush choco pillows in a blender/food processor. These pillows are chocolate-filled, so avoid crushing them with your hands.
- Microwave chocolate and butter for 30 seconds in a bowl to melt them. Allow more time if they do not melt.
- Pour melted chocolate and butter into the crushed pillows in a bowl. Combine well to coat with the chocolate butter. Reserve a small amount of melted chocolate to decorate the bites later on.
- Fill the lined tin with this mixture. Firmly press it down evenly with the help of a rubber spatula and baking paper, as shown in the video.
- Once the top of the mixture is smooth, create some patterns with melted chocolate using a spoon. (see picture below)
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. If you have enough time, keep it refrigerated overnight for better results.
- Once the mixture is completely set, remove the paper from the tray by lifting it from the edges.
- Cut into squares, rectangles, or diamonds in any shape you like using a sharp knife.
- Serve these super yummy chocolate pillow slices as and when required!!
Substitutions
- Substitute with gluten-free cereals to have these gluten-free choco bits.
- Replace butter with dairy-free and lactose-free options.
- Avoid salted butter, If you prefer sweet on the higher side.
- Use dark chocolate for a more prominent chocolatey taste.
- My calorie-conscious friends can replace butter with ¼ cup of milk.
Variations
- Add nuts to get more crunchy and nutty bites.
- If you love coconut, sprinkle coconut flakes on top of the mixture before refrigeration.
- Love peanut butter, then why not think of swapping the butter with it?
- Use white chocolate to decorate these bites.
- You can also use flavored choco pillows like berry, orange, etc.,
Storage
Store these choco bits bites in the fridge. It stays good for months.
As these bites contain butter and chocolate, leaving them on the shelves for a long time will result in their melting. So, always keep them refrigerated!!

After filing the mixture into the tin, press it firmly using a rubber spatula. Once it settles down, cover it with parchment paper and press again with your hands. Spread the mixture to the sides where it is less distributed. In this way, you will get a smooth and uniform top.
Tips
- Keep choco pillows a little chunky to highlight the texture to compliment the sweet treat.
- Use choco pillows with hazelnuts to get the best crunchy bites.
- Avoid crushing pillows using your hands, as these will be too sticky to handle.
- Use parchment as the resulting stuff will be stickier.
- Make sure to overhang the parchment paper on both sides so that you can grab the overhang to lift it out. Another good reason for using a parchment lining is that it is less messed up and thus easy to clean.
- You can also use a piping bag to decorate these bites.
- Refrigerate for sufficient time to set it properly. If you slice the mixture before the setting, these will not turn into nice neat bites.
