About the recipe
Jamun ice cream is a deadly and super delicious combination of Indian and Western desserts. It is prepared by combining only three ingredients. The recipe is the fusion of India's most popular, sweet dish, gulab jamun, deep-fried khoya dumpling (reduced milk solids) soaked in rose water, saffron, and cardamom-flavoured sugar syrup and creamy-dreamy richy rich ice cream.
So basically, gulab Jamun ice cream combines the rich, sweet, and aromatic flavours of kala jamun with the cooling texture of ice cream that will melt in your mouth like anything. The creamy taste of gulab jamun chunks and ice cream makes this dessert the best-ever summer dessert. Look at the colour! This gorgeous pale colour with the grainy texture of this Indian dessert is so appealing and soothing in hot weather that you will want it to scoop after scoop, I can assure you! It's a perfect companion for parties, picnics, barbecues, or simply lounging by the poolside with your loved ones!
For parties, if you are looking for quick and easy sweets to please the crowd, this fruit cream, nutty chocolate bars, choco pillow bites, and fudge stars will not disappoint you.
Serve this gulab jamun flavour ice cream as such or with your favourite fall desserts like apple walnut crumb or a delicious Lotus cake; you will be captivated by the harmonious dance of flavour of gulab jamun and ice cream in each spoon.

Variations
- Add nuts for a crunchy and nutty flavour.
- Top with warm gulab jamun if you do not mind extra sweetness.
- If you like rose petals, add them on the top for vibrance and depth to the ice cream.
Storage
- Store this ice cream with gulab jamun in the freezer.
- It stays fresh for months.
FAQ
In this gulab jamun ice cream, I have used ready-made gulab jamun of the Haldiram brand. According to their label claim, these are prepared from wheat flour and semolina, which contain gluten, so sorry, guys, this ice cream is not gluten-free.
The main reason for the Gulab Jamun ice cream not setting could be the presence of liquid, such as sugar syrup if added by mistake/unknowingly or not keeping the ice cream in the freezer for enough time.
Tips
- Always chill the cream before use.
- Do not use frozen thickened cream.
- I have not added any flavour as I wanted it to be pure gulab jamun flavoured. Feel free to add if you like vanilla, rose water, kewra, etc.,
- Use as many gulab jamun as you want to add. But note that it will increase the sweetness of the ice cream.
- Crush/chop gulab jamun into small pieces before adding it to the ice cream if you use a hand whisk. I use an electric mixer, so adding them without crushing will not affect the outcome.
- Covering the ice cream with a wrap before freezing will prevent ice crystal formation.
- For the best ice cream gulab jamun flavour, freeze it overnight.
