Ingredients
To make this spinach-carrot savory Christmas snack, you need these ingredients:

Spring onions - These give a unique, zingy, intense flavour.
Spinach- I’ve used baby spinach leaves for this recipe. They’re softer and have a slightly sweeter flavour than mature spinach.
If you’re a spinach fan, try it in my chicken and corn pasta salad and low-FODMAP pasta salad recipes— it’s a simple way to sneak in some greens while enjoying comfort food!
Carrot - They give the recipe its crunch. I use orange carrots because that’s what I get here, but you can use whichever carrots you prefer.
Love the crunchy, vibrant carrots? Don’t miss this gorgeous, bright, easy carrot chutney for a healthy dip that pairs perfectly with snacks.
Cilantro - Adds vibrant flavor and fragrance to the treats.
Flour - For these treats, I use Pillsbury Atta with multigrains, but you can use any flour you prefer.
Butter – I prefer salted butter as it adds a nice savoury touch.

How to make Savoury Xmas Treats
Knead into a smooth dough by adding a small amount of water. Refrigerate the dough for 20 minutes to set. Dust the work surface with flour, scrape the dough out of the bowl, and shape it into a big disc.
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and use a knife or spatula to transfer them to a plate (image below).

Shallow-fry these Christmas-themed treats in butter on low heat. Flip the sides (image below).
If you favor shallow-fried food, you will surely love my other low-calorie snack recipe made with store-bought bread.

Fry them until these treats turn golden red. Remove them to a plate.

Serve warm. Enjoy these healthy spinach carrot Xmas treats with your buddies!!

Substitutions
- If spring onions aren’t available, regular onions can be used instead, though the recipe tastes especially good with spring onions.
- Cilantro is optional; skip it if you’re not a fan.
- For a healthier version, you can substitute butter with oil, but keep in mind it may slightly affect the flavor.
Variations
- For a lighter option, try baking instead of frying. Place the treats in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 10–15 minutes, turning them midway to cook evenly.
- Use gluten-free flour for gluten-free options.
- Add green chilies, spicy red chilli chutney, or 2-ingredient chilli oil for a spicy version.

Equipment
To make these spinach-carrot Christmas treats, I use Christmas cookie cutters from Coles in the shape of a star, a gingerbread man, and a flower.
Feel free to use whatever you like.
Storage
- Store the leftover spinach and carrot treats in the fridge.
- Reheat on a skillet or microwave them for 30 seconds before serving.
- These stay fresh for 3-4 days when stored in the fridge.
Serving ideas
Serve them with chutneys like cilantro chutney, coriander mint green chutney, tomato-onion chutney, spicy schezwan sauce, garlic chutney, garlic-herb dip, and olive-avocado chutney.
These savory Christmas treats are so yummy that you won't need anything to serve with them.
